Hello all! Just wanted to do a little blog housekeeping.
First of all, I want to thank Justin Gates. He is not the first person I know to start a blog, but his enjoyment in it got me thinking about doing my own. Thanks man.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with how to leave a comment, it is simple. First you click on the comments section at the bottom of each blog. Second you find the comment box. Third, you type in your comment. Fourth, you select how you want to post; anon., google id, etc. Last you submit the comment. Easy!
I have received some complaints about some of the language in the comments. Now I do not believe in censorship for the blocking of ideas, but I do ask that we try to keep it PG-13. We are adults but I catch the flak, so be creative not crass.
Thanks again for all of the support. I have received some really wonderful emails, calls, and compliments about the site and I greatly appreciate it.
Stay Safe,
Rob
Ok, being one of the guilty that has dropped an F-Bomb on your blog I have a question about what exactly is cussing. Are we going w/ George Carlins' (RIP) list of words we are not allowed to say? Are we going w/ the new rules that prime time TV is playing with? Where is the line drawn? I hear the word sh*t on TV now. Is an F-Bomb the only banned term? I know that it has been said that swearing shows a lack of intelligence, but I disagree. I believe the correct placement of a four letter word is certain context show how strongly someone feels about the subject matter. Calling someone names does not count, in that instance you are an idiot. Anyway, maybe I'm trying to start a conversation and stir the pot that you have provided. I know we all can curse like the best of them and just wanted to see if there are ground rules or do you trust us to use common sense. Cheers f*****s. Beware the G-Men
ReplyDeleteI think that common sense should be the rule of the day. But then again, you don't know all of the people on the email list. Sometimes we have to lay down specific rules in life to protect the weaker minded.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone needs to keep in perspective a few things. This is Rob's Blog, not yours. You want to curse like a sailor, do it on your blog. Second, there is a large distribution list here, and could include mom, grandma, and the preacher, so keep that in mind. If you cuss like a sailor in front of your mom and grandma, then you have bigger issues. Just show a little respect is all that is meant here. Feel free to express yourself, but not to the point of profanity or being vulgar or trying to impress everyone with how many times you can curse. In a forum like this, try to use your intelligence, try to be more Dennis Miller than George Carlin. Cussing in a certain context shows your lack of vocabulary skills and you come off as an idiot. It doesn't show how smart you are or how strongly you feel. Learn some new words, impress people with that.
ReplyDeleteCussing in a bar around your buddies is one thing, but cussing around your kids, mom, or others you hold in high regard and respect is plain dumb and shows a lack of respect. He is saying, have fun, but show some respect, for the audience here is far reaching, beyond what you are aware of, and this is their record of this experience for posterity and if you are the only fool cussing, you will forever be remembered as a moron, not the cute funny person you may think you are now.
He shouldn't have had to even say any of this, it's common sense to most of us, but obviously it does make some of the audience uncomfortable, and don't try and push the limits here. If you don't respect the audience, at least respect Rob and Emilee and honor their wishes. MG
Rob....Grandma is on here too?!!!! Holy Crap!

Matt, I think you scared Clay! He emailed me and the tone was like a kid who just got scolded. I enjoy having an enforcer on here. Keep up the good work.
